Beyond the To Do List
Habits
Every year, I try to pick up a new habit but it never sticks longer than a few weeks (last year I tried meditation) and dropping any bad habits you can completely forget about. This episode is worth the listen for just the “two minute rule” advice itself and it also contains a bunch of small little gems that might be more fitting for you. It might even lay the foundation to anything you want to do for the year. Sidenote: I haven’t read the book yet but if you feel so inclined, you can grab it here.

Voices of Esalen
Attitude
New Year, new attitude, and basically trying to get any bad vibes from around me. This episode is a blueprint on how to develop that internal core of calm, strength, and appreciation, while reducing suffering and anxiety. It also gives a good mental framework (one I’ve always thought was counter intuitive) on how to be ambitious and aspirational whilst being at peace with yourself.

The Dumbbells
Fitness
This episode from a podcast called The Dumbbells with comedians Eugene Cordero (The Good Place) and Ryan Stanger have guests come on and talk about fitness, health, and diet, sometimes while working out. This here is a good primer if you ever wanted to run a half-marathon but didn’t know where to start. It’s a light hearted breezy episode that’s just funny and on/off topic enough to get you motivated but not hit you over the head with the “motivation”.

Diet
Eat well - feel well, and wait on line at Sweetgreen for an hour long - well. This podcast is from Dr. Rhonda Patrick who breaks down the science of nutrition and its effects on health. She speaks very fast, and some of the facts in this episode is enough to scare you straight from having that next soda pop. If you love a fast, straight, information laced episode, and want to eat healthier, then listen to how bad sugar is!
New Year - New Me
Selected by:

Welcome back! We’re excited to get this year going with some amazing content so we’ll begin with this inaugural Issue. The beginning of the year always have that optimistic smell that’s worth savoring as long as we can before it dissipates into despair by February and we’re all back on our bullshit. But before we lose it, perhaps we can at least attempt to be a better version of ourselves and maybe, just maybe this time we do start coming up Milhouse, isn’t that the point of optimism? To help, this issue is all about learning how to be a better you. Start with the Habits episode as that’ll lay a good motivational and actionable foundation that can manifest in any and all of your endeavors. Good luck on the year, and enjoy.
